Wait, you live in Germany? How are you going to be able to shoot our wedding? (the answer is simple, promise!)
Yes! It’s true! I currently reside in Deutschland with my pilot husband (I tell him ALL the time he’s lucky he’s so cute because I sure miss home)! I know it sounds kind of crazy but it’s simple, really! Here’s what you need to know –
I consider myself a destination photographer, only my destination is typically just the Southeast, Virginia, and the Coast. My business is set up so I only commit to a limited number of weddings a year to allow me to fully concentrate on each couple and provide them excellent service. You don’t have to worry a bit about travel and hotel accommodations because I’ll book all that myself (Even better is that wedding day coverage includes flight fees! Uh huh, you totally read that right! No flight fees in the USA!). Leading up to your wedding day there will be a ton of e-mailing and FaceTime/Skype-ing. I’ll fly out of Germany with ample time, all of my equipment is in my carry on that never leaves my hot little hands, I’ll arrive for your wedding, we’ll become instant best friends, and I’ll photograph you and your honey in all your wedding splendor. Told ya it was easy!
How would you describe your style?
My style is best described as candid, natural, organic, rich, and film inspired – with a documentary approach. Starting in 2018, I will begin shooting film at my clients’ weddings to add some richness and depth to my portfolio. The ultimate goal is to perhaps one day soon be a fully hybrid (someone who shoots both digital and analog) photographer.
Do you ever run any special promotions or deals?
I’ll do the occasional freebie shoot, model call, or giveaway, which you can look out for on my Instagram or Facebook page. I also occasionally offer mini sessions at different times throughout the year.
Where will we shoot?
I am a natural light fanatic so I prefer to shoot outdoors on a beautiful sunny day. I’ll always ask if you have anywhere in mind that you’d like to shoot and if not, we will end up backwoods road, park with trees, open field, or urban area that inspires me to be creative! Wherever we shoot, I want to make sure it screams YOU! I want you to leave our session feeling like, “Wow, that girl is amazing, she nailed it! That’s so us”. I’ll also shoot indoors if the light is right!
What should I wear?
I am a Pinterest lover! I often look to Pinterest for inspiration. On my Pinterest page, I have a board to answer this exact question. A few general tips: Dress like yourself, no crazy colors, patterns, or graphics. Coordinate but please don’t match exactly — we want you and your family to look cohesive but not like a little army. I typically love neutrals and earthy tones! I also love couples who are trendy and include simple props such as bouquets and champagne.
When will we shoot?
A photographer’s favorite time of day to shoot is what we call “golden hour”, which is the hour or so right after sunrise and an hour or so before sunset. It’s that beautiful, makes everyone look good, angelic light from the sun. So, ideally, depending on your session, we’ll most likely schedule around that time. I’d say 80% of my sessions are in the evening, but man, I love a good sunrise session!
How many wedding photos should I expect to receive?
I include in your final collection as many crowd pleasers I photographed on your day. On average, you can expect anywhere from 600-800 for an 8 hour day. Keep in mind that this number depends on so many different factors that have to do with your day such as size of wedding party, hours of coverage, etc. I promise I won’t keep anything special and frame worthy out and your story will be thoughtfully and artistically told!
Will you help us build a timeline for our wedding?
YES! Not only is our photographer/client relationship important to me and I want to help with any questions you have, but I want to be sure that you and your fiancé are well educated on how influential the lighting and setting will be on your wedding day will be. I’d be happy to assist in building the perfect timeline with you!
What is your turnaround time for portrait sessions and weddings?
You can expect sneak peeks on my Instagram as early as the next day of our session. As far as receiving your final collection, I try my best to be as prompt as possible with my delivery. You can expect to receive your portrait collection within 3 weeks and wedding collection within 6 weeks.
I’m feeling hot. Do you do boudoir sessions?
Go on with your hot self! Short answer – yes! I love doing them. Contact me and we can work out all the naughty details. To see some of my work, look here.
How much does it cost to hire you?
It really depends on the gig and what you’re looking for, my wedding photography pricing can be found here. Connect with me for any questions and for a detailed pricing guide!
How will I receive my final collection?
I mail my clients a perfectly packaged wooden USB full of their beautiful images.
Do I have to order prints through you?
I’m so glad you asked!! There is so much evidence that picking the right printing lab is essential to beautiful, tangible portraiture. I highly recommend ordering prints through my professional vendors, but it is not required. However, the difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so I encourage clients to let me help with prints, albums, and canvases. If you’re interested and want to read more about the difference between a professional lab vs. drugstore, look here and here. Why invest in photography when you’re just going to print from a place that makes you look like a zombie? That wouldn’t be a good look for either of us!
Are you a licensed business and do you have insurance?
Yes and yes! I am a registered LLC in the state of Virginia and have liability insurance, just in case!
What gear do you have?
Canon 5D Mark III | Canon 6D | Canon 5D Classic | Canon Elan 7 | Canon 100mm 2.8L | Canon 50 1.4 | Sigma ART 35mm 1.4 | Canon 28mm 1.8
Additionally, various flashes, light stands, reflectors, film, SD cards, etc.
(Basically, I’ve gotcha covered!)
