In case you missed it on my Instagram, WE’RE MOVING TO ABILENE, TEXAS! For those of you that don’t know, my husband is active duty military and we’re currently stationed in Germany. We’re a little over 2.5 years down in our 3 year assignment, knowing our next assignment should be coming soon, we’ve been just sitting, waiting, wishing we’d hear news of where we’ll be off to next.
My husband’s job is pretty specific so we had a general idea of where we’d be going. Luckily, all of our options had a lot of wonderful pros about them. But if I’m being truthful, we’ve been missing the USA so much that we’d probably be jumping for joy for just about anything as long as it was stateside. However, we’re extra thankful that the chips fell where they did! We’ve been scoping out our potential options for some time now (if you know me, you know I take like 45 minutes just to order a pizza between comparing companies, looking up promo codes, nutrition, etc. – let’s just say, I like to be prepared and know exactly what to expect) so when Nathan told me this was our assignment, I was stoked because I had spent…dare I say months? researching the location.
Guys, there’s a Target, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club, Cracker Barrel, Chipotle, and Chick fil a – like, we’re golden. Those are all my favorite things! AND we’ll finally have Amazon 2 day shipping again! *insert praise hands*
I know it seems kind of silly to be so excited about seemingly little conveniences, but it’s what we miss most about America! Aside from the people, of course! Call me a millennial, but I miss good customer service and shopping all in one place. Oh man, and places that accept credit cards!
I’m curious if any of you would be interested in a blog dedicated to the differences between American and Germany? Maybe what we love and not so much? Connect with me and let me know!
I’ll end this little blurb with this – we’re SUPER grateful for the opportunity to live abroad while we’re able! I would highly suggest visiting Europe at least once in your lifetime if at all possible. However, I have never been more thankful and proud to be an American! And I just can’t wait to get home and plant some roots in our new state!
TEXAS FOREVER! Orrrrr, at least 3 years. 🙂
