FAQs

You’re based in Texas, right?

Yes! Long story short, I married my college sweetheart turned pilot and he whisked me away from my home state of Virginia to Oklahoma, then Arkansas, and then took me on a 3 year tour of Europe. We now call Texas home as of July 2019 and so far, it’s been such a good fit.

How would you describe your style?

I am a hybrid photographer, meaning I shoot both digital and film (old school film photography, not video) for my clients. Film may sound a little outdated but trust me, it creates magic! Film has added a richness and depth to my portfolio that is unmatched by digital. Film makes me more intentional while shooting my clients and it’s an overall aesthetic that I’ve been chasing for years! My work is best described as timeless, colorful, romantic, and natural. While I consider myself a fine art photographer, my couples are the total opposite of super pose-y and stuffy! I aim for classic, not boring, portraiture. I want you and your person to look like the best versions of yourselves which is why I provide gentle instruction to my clients to ensure that we create the best images we can together!

Do you ever run any special promotions or deals?

I’ll do the occasional freebie shoot, model call, or giveaway, which you can look out for on my Instagram. I also occasionally offer mini sessions at different times throughout the year.

Where will we shoot?

I am a natural light fanatic so I prefer to shoot outdoors on a beautiful sunny day. I’ll always ask if you have anywhere in mind that you’d like to shoot and if not, we will end up backwoods road, park with trees, open field, or urban area that inspires me to be creative! Wherever we shoot, I want to make sure it screams YOU! I want you to leave our session feeling like, “Wow, that girl is amazing, she nailed it! That’s so us”. I’ll also shoot indoors if the light is right!

What should I wear?

I am a Pinterest lover! I often look to Pinterest for inspiration. On my Pinterest page, I have a board to answer this exact question. A few general tips: Dress like yourself, no crazy colors, patterns, or graphics. Coordinate but please don’t match exactly — we want you and your fiancé to look cohesive but not like a little army. I typically love jewel and earthy tones! Think timeless. I also love couples who are trendy and include simple props such as bouquets and champagne. For wedding clients, you’ll receive a very detailed bridal guide to make sure you and your groom are entirely prepared for your portrait session!

When will we shoot?

My favorite time of day to shoot is what photographers call “golden hour”, which is the hour or so right after sunrise and an hour or so before sunset. It’s that beautiful, makes everyone look good, angelic light from the sun. So, ideally, depending on your session, we’ll most likely schedule around that time. I’d say 80% of my sessions are in the evening, but man, I love a good sunrise session!

How many wedding photos should I expect to receive?

I include in your final collection as many crowd pleasers I photographed on your day. On average, you can expect anywhere from 600-800 for an 8 hour day. Keep in mind that this number depends on so many different factors that have to do with your day such as size of wedding party, details, hours of coverage, etc. I promise I won’t keep anything special and frame worthy out and your story will be thoughtfully and artistically told!

Will my wedding be featured on a national wedding blog or magazine?

While I have had the honor of being featured on numerous national wedding blogs, this, unfortunately, is not something that is guaranteed (I wish!). Most publishers are interested in trendy, extraordinary, uniquely designed, and thoughtful weddings! If there is a publication you are absolutely dying to get featured in, please let me know and I would be more than happy to collaborate with you and offer my thoughts on how to increase our odds of landing a feature.

Will you help us build a timeline for our wedding?

YES! Not only is our photographer/client relationship important to me and I want to help with any questions you have, but I want to be sure that you and your fiancé are well educated on how influential the lighting and setting will be on your wedding day will be. I’d be happy to assist in building the perfect timeline with you! My bridal guide covers a lot of this!

What is your turnaround time for portrait sessions and weddings?

You can expect sneak peeks on my Instagram as early as the next day. As far as receiving your final collection, I always aim to exceed expectations when delivering. You can expect to receive your portrait collection within 4 weeks and wedding collection within 8 weeks.

I’m feeling hot. Do you do boudoir sessions?

Go on with your hot self! Short answer – yes! I love doing them. Contact me and we can work out all the naughty details. Still on the fence or have questions? Ask away!

I have a friend getting married, can I refer her to you?

Yes, please do! Receiving referrals is not only a massive compliment, but absolutely vital to my business! Don’t forget to inquire about my referral program!

How much does it cost to hire you?

It really depends on what you’re looking for, please connect with me for questions and for a detailed pricing guide! My wedding collections begin at $2,400.

We’re pretty obsessed with our dogs, can we bring them to our session?

You didn’t even need to finish your sentence! You had me at dog! Always YES! I am a huge animal lover and adore incorporating them into your session! Don’t hesitate to bring them, they are family after all!!

How will I receive my final collection?

For wedding clients, I snail mail my clients a perfectly packaged wooden USB full of their beautiful images. Portrait session clients will be delivered an online gallery.

Do I have to order prints through you?

I’m so glad you asked! It’s so important to pick the right printing lab for beautiful, tangible portraiture. I highly recommend ordering prints through my professional vendors, but it is not required. However, the difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so I encourage clients to let me help with prints, albums, and canvases.

Are you a licensed business and do you have insurance?

Yes and yes! I am a registered LLC in the state of Virginia and have liability insurance, just in case!

Do you have a list of preferred vendors or “friendors”?

Sure do! I love working with other talented artists to create your most perfect day! Keep in mind, my current list is geared towards my Virginia brides at this time, but you can find it here.
